There’s nothing like receiving a quarter-million dollar down payment for a job you never actually did.
This was the case for a tech from the Omaha region who found a payment from Google in his bank account for a cool $249,999.
Sam Curry, who works as a security engineer for Yuga Labs, tweeted a photo of the mysterious payment and explained what happened to his followers.
“It’s been a little over three weeks since Google randomly sent me $249,999 and I still haven’t heard anything about the support ticket,” Curry wrote. “Is there any way we can get in touch? @Google?”

Curry also noted that it would be more than okay if Google decided they “don’t want it back”.
He told NPR that he is a “self-described hacker” who uses his skills as a bug bounty hunter for major tech companies, meaning he is paid to look for vulnerabilities in corporate software.
Having previously worked for Google in this capacity, he initially thought this might be a hefty payoff for a previous job, but soon realized it wasn’t.
Google has confirmed to CNN that it was in fact a mistake on their part.
“Our team recently made a payment to the wrong party due to human error,” a spokesperson told the outlet via email. “We appreciate that the affected partner communicated with us quickly and we are working to correct this.”
Curry insisted the payment was still in his account late last week.
He didn’t spend any of it.
