Application protection in multicloud and hybrid cloud environments has never been more critical, but most organizations struggle to achieve this.
According to a recent Radware report, while organizations use multiple tools to secure their cloud applications, 70% are not confident in their ability to apply consistent security across on-premise and multi-cloud environments. Significantly, 69% admit they have experienced data breaches or exposures due to variations in multicloud security configurations.
The report, commissioned by Radware, “Application Security in a Multi-Cloud World,” examines the key security challenges posed by managing applications in on-premise and multi-cloud environments.
For starters, cyber attacks are common. More than half of respondents reported four types of attacks on their applications on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. For example, weekly bot attacks were reported by 20% of respondents, while 30% of respondents had weekly application attacks.

Multicloud security seen as a key issue
To make things even more difficult, the quality of security of multicloud protection is compromised. More than half (51%) of respondents consider the lack of quality protection for cloud applications to be one of their biggest concerns. This means that current security solutions in use cannot detect, block, prevent and mitigate cyber attacks. Lack of centralized security visibility across platforms was ranked as the second biggest problem.
The reality is that organizations face increasing challenges in protecting their applications from a threat environment that is increasing in frequency, intensity and business impact – a perfect storm for data breaches.
It is a wake-up call for organizations to change the way security is managed so that applications are protected at the highest level, no matter where they run.
The Radware survey includes 269 responses from executives in 10 countries, including senior network security, devops and other security functions.
